About this role

Role Overview

The Volunteer & Events Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing The Scholarship Academy's financial aid and scholarship events, recruiting and managing volunteers from corporate and community partners, and creating & deepening TSA's relationships with new and current partner organizations across metro-Atlanta. This role is ideal for a connector and organizer who thrives in community-facing environments and can manage both the logistics of a well-run event and the relationships that make it sustainable.

What You'll Own

Event Planning & Coordination ~30%

  • Scope event requirements, draft run-of-show, coordinate material orders and printing, and plan event space layout.
  • Align internal subject-matter experts and support staff for event day coverage.
  • Schedule and facilitate pre-event prep sessions with staff and volunteers.
  • Track event budgets and reconcile expenses post-event.

Volunteer Recruitment & Management ~30%

  • Develop and manage a pipeline of volunteers sourced primarily from corporate and community partners.
  • Build and maintain volunteer recruitment materials including outreach templates, role descriptions, and onboarding guides.
  • Coordinate 8–10 volunteers per event — managing sign-up flows, shift schedules, and day-of check-in processes.
  • Brief volunteers ahead of each event on their roles, expectations, and TSA's mission.
  • Recognize and retain volunteers through post-event thank-you outreach and relationship touchpoints.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and track participation across the service term.

Community & Partner Engagement ~25%

  • Serve as a relationship point of contact for TSA's existing community, corporate, and organizational partners.
  • Maintain consistent partner touchpoints — attending partner events, coordinating site visits to TSA programming, and facilitating recognition outreach.
  • Research and qualify new community organizations, corporate groups, and civic partners to expand TSA's volunteer and event network.
  • Conduct outreach via email, phone, and in-person visits to book FAFSA workshops, scholarship boot camps, and related programming.
  • Maintain a light partnership pipeline and contribute to quarterly outreach goals.

Post-Event Reporting ~15%

  • Compile attendance data, volunteer participation logs, and satisfaction survey results after each even
  • Deliver event recap summaries to partners within one week of each event.
  • Surface insights and follow-on programming opportunities based on event outcomes.
  • Prepare, launch, and track content for new and existing social media and email platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, LinkedIn, Constant Contact, etc.

(Percentages reflect time allocation over a typical month and flex with the event calendar.)

You'll Be a Great Fit If You…

  • Have 2+ years of experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, event management, or nonprofit program work — ideally in a youth-serving or education-focused environment.
  • Are a natural relationship-builder who enjoys engaging partners, recruiting volunteers, and turning new connections into long-term collaborators.
  • Can manage multiple event timelines simultaneously without dropping details — you rely on checklists and project management tools to stay organized.
  • Are comfortable leading volunteers and small teams on-site, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in writing and in person across diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with FAFSA, scholarship processes, and The Scholarship Academy's programming.
