About this role

Camp Kingswood seeks a Director of Marketing and Communications to serve as a senior leader responsible for owning strategy, stewarding the brand, and leading all camp communications across the year. This role leads all camp communications and storytelling, ensuring that every Kingswood touchpoint reflects the camp’s mission, values, voice, and spirit. This is a leadership role for someone who takes pride in their judgment, values collaboration, and understands that camp communications carry both joy and responsibility. This role is for someone who enjoys responsibility, takes ownership seriously, and understands that camp communications carry both joy and trust. It requires sound judgment, follow-through, and a genuine appreciation for the culture and rhythms of overnight camp.

The Director of Marketing and Communications strengthens relationships with campers, families, staff, alumni, and community partners while supporting year-round operations and summer leadership. You report to the Camp Director and Owner. 

Camp Kingswood is led by a small team of dedicated professionals who work remotely from September - May, and work in-person, on-site at camp in Bridgton, Maine from mid-May through early September. We live our Kingswood core values year-round, and despite being seasonally remote, we support a workplace culture that is fun, supportive, collaborative, equitable, inclusive, and grounded in respect. Our year-round calendar and work flow is designed to promote community and collaboration among our year-round team, with connections maintained throughout the year with our seasonal staff. During the off-season we gather in-person when we have conferences, camp events, or trainings to attend. The in-person and remote schedule is subject to change based on the needs of camp.

Responsibilities:

1) Marketing, Communications & Brand Strategy

  • Develop, lead, and continuously refine a year-round marketing and communications strategy aligned with enrollment, retention, and community goals
  • Serve as steward of the Kingswood brand, ensuring consistency, quality, and clarity across all digital and print platforms
  • Serve as the final owner of all camp communications, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with Kingswood’s values and voice across all platforms
  • Own and manage all communications calendars, balancing strategic priorities, seasonal rhythms, and operational realities
  • Design, execute, and evaluate paid marketing campaigns with a clear understanding of audience, message, and conversion goals
  • Track performance metrics and adjust strategies to improve reach, engagement, and enrollment
  • Supervise and support seasonal content creators during the off-season

2) Design, Creative Direction & Content

  • Lead the creative direction of marketing and communications materials, maintaining high standards for clarity, consistency, and visual storytelling
  • Maintain and uphold visual standards and brand guidelines
  • Create presentations, graphics, and visual materials for meetings, planning, and community engagement
  • Provide thoughtful creative support that elevates internal communications without over-designing or over-producing

3) Apparel, Merchandise & Marketing Collateral

  • Provide strategic and creative oversight of branded apparel, promotional items, and marketing collateral
  • Manage apparel and merchandise projects with strong attention to timelines, budgets, and brand integrity
  • Design, source, and manage milestone gifts, staff appreciation items, and promotional materials
  • Oversee the online camp store, including product selection, pricing, inventory, and fulfillment
  • Manage branded canteen items, including ordering and inventory

This position is especially well-suited for a marketing professional looking to step into a year-round leadership role while staying deeply connected to the camp experience.This job can be year-round part time or full time. 

This role is not:

  • A junior or entry-level marketing position
  • A social media–only or content-posting role
  • A freelance, “do a little when you have time” arrangement
  • A purely creative role without accountability for results
  • A hands-off leadership role that only delegates work
  • A corporate marketing job disconnected from community, relationships, and values
  • A position for someone who prefers rigid schedules or narrowly defined responsibilities

Qualifications & Skills

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, or brand leadership
  • Proficiency in Canva; experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop) a plus
  • Proficiency in CampMinder/CampInTouch, MailChimp, WordPress, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Zoom
  • Strong understanding of social media strategy, content creation, and digital marketing platforms (including Meta, TikTok, and emerging platforms)
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity, make sound decisions, and deliver consistently high-quality work
  • Demonstrated ability to generate engaging, innovative content for community-based organizations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
  • Comfort and fluency in Jewish culture, values, and communal life, and the ability to reflect those authentically in communications
  • Meaningful prior camp experience required; overnight camp experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, with travel to in person events and for on-site visits
