The Context:
Emmaus House, founded in 1967, is a mission of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta. Emmaus House works in and serves the residents of Peoplestown and surrounding neighborhoods on Atlanta’s south side. The Peoplestown neighborhood is a historic community less than one mile from Downtown and the State Capitol.Emmaus House has two strategic priorities. The first is to create a ladder to economic opportunity that leads to financial stability. The second is providing multigenerational education supporting the next generation's economic mobility. Through these strategies, Emmaus House focuses on holistic well-being, emphasizing six essential elements: emotional health, physical health, meaning and purpose, character strengths, social connectedness, and financial security.
The Opportunity:
The Lokey Center Program Assistant at Emmaus House is a grant-funded full-time position reporting to the Chief Program Officer. The Program Assistant primary responsibility is the first point of contact for Emmaus House.
Program Assistant:
· Greet clients at the front desk, log-in clients and maintain Lokey Center database
· Answer client inquiries at the front desk and by telephone
· Receive, sort and distribute daily mail
· Direct clients to appropriate Lokey Center staff and volunteers to serve them
· Check emails daily and respond by next business day
· Submit Lokey Center monthly service report by the 5th of each month
· Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable, with all necessary office supplies and information available to clients
· Other tasks and responsibilities that may be assigned
Required Qualifications:
· Minimum of three years of related experience.
· Experience working with low-income families and individuals.
· Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
· The ability to work with a diverse group of clients, including racially diverse populations and individuals dealing with behavioral health, substance use disorders, or other disabilities.
· Completion of a background check according to the policies of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta before beginning employment.
· Completion of Safeguarding training modules as required by the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Ability to work in high-intensity and emotional atmospheres where clients seek assistance.
· Experience in conflict resolution and verbal de-escalation.
· An ability to work well in team settings, good judgment, a sense of humor, and composure under pressure.
· Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
· A positive attitude to create an optimal work and social environment.
· Ability to take direction and be flexible in work assignments.
Compensation:
· Salary Range $21-$23 hourly.
