Position Overview and Responsibilities
United States of Care (USofCare) is seeking a Senior State Policy and Project Manager. This is a full time, salary position with an end date of 10/31/2027. This position will support a USofCare project to turn findings from our “listening” research into actionable policy in 6 states (yet to be determined). The Senior State Policy and Project Manager will be overseen by the Director of State Policy Solutions, and will work in close collaboration with the project team. The Senior State Policy and Project Manager will develop 6 “state profiles” that provide an overview of each state’s landscape, what our listening research tells us people need and want in their health care system, and what policy solutions the state and other stakeholders could pursue. As part of the development of those profiles, the Senior State Policy and Project Manager will conduct background and policy research and will participate in in-person and virtual listening sessions across key states to identify key themes, takeaways, and policy recommendations. The Senior State Policy and Project Manager will also hire and supervise a project assistant, who will provide overall project administrative, coordination, and logistics support for the duration of the project.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have a strong commitment to ensuring everyone has access to quality, affordable health care, and have a dedication to operating in a diverse, bipartisan, learning atmosphere that explores multiple policy solutions to achieve our mission. You are willing to respect different points of view, and are committed to applying an equity lens and prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in all your work.
The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, collaborative, and passionate about developing and advancing health care policies that reflect the needs of people and address inequities in our health care system. You must be familiar with current state affairs and a range of health care policy issues, and have experience lobbying or working with and managing contract lobbyists. You have demonstrated familiarity with the role of community engagement and research in developing health policy recommendations.
You have project management experience, strong analysis, writing, editing, verbal, organizational, and presentation skills. You pay excellent attention to detail.
You should be comfortable in a fast-paced environment where tasks, priorities, and deadlines can change quickly. You have a passion for learning, understanding, and exploring new ideas. You are not afraid to ask questions, speak up, and be an active and engaged member of our team. You value collaboration and can work effectively across teams and departments within the organization.
