General Responsibilities
· Assist families with completing the necessary documents following an info session.
· Provides timely communication to prospective or current foster/adoptive families and staff.
· Assess a family’s motivation and suitability to care for children from difficult places though a series of home visit interviews, safety checks and data collection.
· Awareness of various backgrounds/cultures to approach families with dignity and respect and to educate families that are willing to foster/adopt cross culturally.
· Provide training to foster/adoptive parents as needed
· Educate foster/adoptive families on common diagnosis, behaviors, and needs that are typical for children after placement.
· Teach families the importance and effect of positive interactions with a child’s biological family and help ease concerns regarding the partnership.
· Educate families on agency/state policies and the standards that must be maintained throughout their fostering/adoption process.
· Complete SAFE-certified home studies in accordance with Georgia law for the purpose of approving foster and adoptive homes.
· Assist staff in determining if a family could be a good placement option to meet the needs of a specific child(ren).
· Maintain child/family case record to include materials consistent with agency, licensing, accreditation, and contract requirements.
· Assist with onboarding for new staff/interns.
· Maintains confidentially for our families and our agency.
· All other duties as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Qualifications
· Master’s Degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field OR a Bachelor’s Degree with several years of experience in the field
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Experience in foster/adoptive field preferred
· Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
· Problem-solving ability and time management skills
· Certified in IMPACT FCP Training preferred, or willing to secure in an agreed-upon timeframe
· Certified as a SAFE Home Study Practitioner preferred, or willing to secure in an agreed-upon timeframe
· CPR/First Aid certification preferred, or willing to secure in an agreed-upon timeframe
· Proficiency in technology (MS Office and Extended Reach)
· Possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License
· Acceptable criminal records checks, child abuse records, motor vehicle report, and drug screening
