Progressions Dance Instructor

Job Description

We're looking for a passionate and dedicated Dance Instructor to join a vibrant dance program for 3rd to 5th-grade students in Title I schools. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dance instruction, a commitment to youth mentorship, and the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and school staff.

Responsibilities

Curriculum and Instruction: Teach an established dance curriculum, providing high-quality instruction that is both fun and educational. Focus on fundamental dance techniques and creative expression while nurturing the child as a whole through the arts.

Choreography: Develop and create choreography based on the program's curriculum, ensuring it's engaging and suitable for 3rd-5th graders.

Mentorship: Serve as a mentor to students, fostering a supportive and encouraging classroom environment that builds confidence and positive relationships. This program is dedicated to providing support through the arts, helping each child grow as an individual.

Collaboration: Coordinate closely with the on-site sponsor, who handles day-to-day logistics and communication with school staff, the principal, and the principal's assistant. You'll also communicate with students' parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child’s progress and program updates.

Performance and Showcase: Prepare students for potential end-of-program performances or showcases, helping them develop stage presence and teamwork.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Proven experience teaching dance to elementary school-aged children, particularly within a school or community setting.
  • Working in a Title I school or with underserved youth is a significant plus.

Skills:

  • Strong dance background with a diverse range of styles (e.g., Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary).
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to create a safe, inclusive, and fun learning environment.

Attributes:

  • We're looking for someone who is patient, creative, and passionate about using dance as a tool for personal growth and development.

If you're an energetic and inspiring dance professional ready to make a lasting impact on young lives through the arts, we encourage you to apply!
