Circles Cobb is a local chapter of Circles USA, a nonprofit working to build community to end poverty through intentional friendships, personal transformation, and systemic change led by the people closest to the challenge.
Position Overview
The Circles Coach is a leader whose primary role is to work within the Circles community, supporting and meeting regularly with program participants and mentors. The Coach has experience working with diverse socio-economic communities, a deep knowledge of poverty, skills in community organizing, volunteer management, and an awareness of the human services field and social service resources in the community.
Responsibilities
● Promote a supportive, inclusive, positive culture within the Circles community so all participants, mentors, and volunteers feel supported
● Assist in the recruitment of participants, mentors and other volunteers
● Assist with interviews, selection and enrollment of program participants
● Training of participants and mentors
● Assist program participants and mentors with setting S.M.A.R.T. goals, tracking progress, address hindrances/barriers to achieving goals, and identifying through data what goals/outcomes were met
● Run weekly meetings covering topics relevant to the Circles model
● Maintain an accessible file with meeting agendas, PowerPoint presentations, notes
● Ensure training materials are updated, printed and available to participants and mentors
● Work with staff & volunteers to ensure meeting space is prepped and ready for Circles community each week
● Maintain open and honest communication within the Circles community and work to mediate issues and resolve conflict when needed
● Maintain a record of monthly coaching conversations with program participants and mentors
● Act as cheerleader to participants and mentors, keeping them encouraged and helping to manage expectations
● Work with participants to discuss the CLIFF Effect and taking their financial/employment goals into account, plan when they might hit this barrier, work with the Services Team to help identify resources to fill in the gaps
● Oversee data collection and input of data into the Circles USA data system
● Ensure confidentiality in all communications – both written and oral
● Communicate with Program Manager on participant involvement and relevant personal situations and complete additional tasks as assigned by the Program Manager
● Stay in contact with Circles USA for support and best practices
● Participate in Circles USA webinars for coaches
● Represent Circles in the Cobb community, helping to educate others on poverty, barriers to overcoming poverty, the Circles model and how they can make a difference

Qualifications
Experience and Education
● Preferred Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience
● High school diploma or equivalent required
● Management experience a plus
● Minimum two years of experience in the Human Services field preferred
● Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite

● Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
● Excellent problem-solving skills and the tenacity needed to achieve resolution
● Detail oriented
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the Circles community – weekly meetings in the evening and availability to meet with participants and mentors in the evening as the need arises
● Punctuality and consistent work attendance
● Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
Other Important Information
Position: Part-time, 20-25 hours per week. Opportunity for growth as we expand into neighboring communities in Cobb County, Georgia
Pay rate: $20-$22 per hour
Location: TBD – combination of in office and work from home
Hours: Flexible. We meet each Tuesday evening from 4-9 pm in Austell – this in-person meeting is required.
