To execute The Stitch vision, The Atlanta Downtown Stitch Inc. (Stitch Inc.) is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the role of Vice President, Communications and Development. The VP of Communications and Development will report to the President/CEO of Stitch Inc. and is responsible for providing vision, strategic direction, and leadership to execute effective communications and programming strategies that build excitement, visibility, and support for The Stitch. The position will also support the President & CEO, Stitch Inc. Directors, and others in developing and executing strategic fundraising initiatives to implement key projects and programs identified in The Stitch Master Plan. Stitch, Inc. desires to fill this position before July 1, 2026.
The successful candidate will possess the ability to succeed in a dynamic and fast-paced culture and easily network and establish rapport and connections with key individuals and groups. Atlanta Downtown Stitch Inc. (Stitch Inc.) is a not-for-profit corporation with the mission of aiding The City of Atlanta in executing The Stitch, as envisioned in the Stitch Master Plan. The organization was fully-established in 2026 by The Atlanta Downtown Improvement District and is governed by a 9-member board of directors comprised of downtown property owners within the Stitch Special Services District (SSD). The SSD generates the primary revenue source for Stitch Inc. and is comprised of commercial taxable properties within approximately ½ mile of future park site. The organization currently shares resources with Downtown Atlanta Inc. a Community Improvement District (CID) that strives to create an attractive, safe and livable environment for Downtown and has advanced The Stitch concept for over 20 years.
The role will serve as the primary staff person responsible for the planning & execution of Stitch Inc. communications and programming, while providing direction and oversight to consultants, contractors, and other staff as needed. The role will also support the President & CEO, Stitch Inc. Directors, and others in developing and executing strategic fundraising initiatives.
· Play a vital role among the leadership team that drives organizational mission, impact, and culture. This role provides leadership for Stitch Inc.’s brand management, communications, and fundraising strategies.
· Develop and execute a best-in-class communications plan for Stitch Inc., directly managing integrated tactics that promote, enhance, and protect the organization's reputation; and build strong awareness of programs and priorities.
· Stitch Inc. has a is currently working with a PR consultant team on communications planning and execution. The Vice President would refine this plan and oversee this team in the near-term.
· Oversee the day-to-day activities of the communications program including budgeting and planning.
· Be an ambassador for the organization and build extensive external relationships with a range of audiences.
· Serve as communications counselor to the President & CEO and Stitch Inc. directors, and other senior staff.
· Develop, integrate, and implement a range of communications, public relations, and marketing activities in support of organizational goals and programs, as well as the positioning of the organization and its leadership.
· Plan and execute major events identified in the communications plan.
· Establish measurable goals and KPIs to track the success of communications initiatives and regularly analyze performance metrics and adjust strategies accordingly to optimize outcomes.
· Serve as a spokesperson and lead point person on media interactions that help promote and/or impact the organization.
· Actively engage, cultivate, and manage relationships with media to ensure coverage of Stitch programs, special events, and announcements.
· Prepare talking points, speeches, presentations, and other supporting material as needed.
· Manage Stitch Inc. online presence and communications including social media channels, targeted ad campaigns, and website (thestitchatl.com).
· Support the development and execution of a fundraising strategy for The Stitch capital improvements identified in The Stitch Master Plan.
· Strategize and lead smaller-donor and community fundraising efforts to enable programs, operations, and smaller capital needs identified in The Stitch Master Plan.
· Maintain strong relationships with current and prospective project donors through effective communications and programs.
· The Vice President provides supervision and support for PR consultants – who assist in executing the Department’s work plan.
· As the Stitch Inc. communications team grows, the Vice President will be responsible for managing and monitoring staff performance, including developing staff goals, assigning accountabilities, setting objectives, establishing priorities, and conducting annual performance reviews.
· The Vice President is expected to collaborate with other departments to align communications efforts with overall organizational objectives. By building strong cross-functional relationships, they ensure that communications initiatives are integrated seamlessly into the company’s operations.
· Other duties that may be assigned as related to the administration and execution of Stitch Inc.’s communications and development efforts.
The position requires a combination of skills and experience including, but not limited to the following:
• A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, journalism, or other related field, an advanced degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years paid, related work background in a professional setting.
• Understanding and appreciation of The Stitch’s mission and genuine passion for a vibrant and equitable Downtown Atlanta.
• Stature, gravitas, and confidence to gain the credibility and respect of high-performing Board of Directors, members, and stakeholders.
• A commitment to excellence and ability to work in an ever-evolving environment.
• Excellent writing, editing, analytical, and oral communication skills including the ability to collect, review, synthesize, and present information and findings.
• Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing a comprehensive strategic communications plan to advance an organization's mission and goals.
• Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with media to achieve high impact coverage.
• Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with prospective project funders to fund public initiatives.
• Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
• Superior management skills: ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
• Ability to meet deadlines while also paying close attention to details and accuracy.
• Extensive experience with planning and producing meetings and events.
• Expertise level experience with G Suite, particularly Google Ad Words.
• Familiarity with design software, particularly Adobe Creative Suite.
• Fluency using Salesforce or other CRM platforms.

The starting salary range for this role is between $100,000 and $125,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
