POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a strategic and highly skilled Development and Events Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of our comprehensive event strategy at the Atlanta Police Foundation. In this pivotal role, you will design, implement, and manage five events aligned with our mission, while delivering exceptional experiences for our audiences.

The candidate must also possess excellent project management skills, including the creation and use of budgets, timelines, event schedules, and other appropriate tools to facilitate organized, well-run events.

ABOUT THE ATLANTA POLICE FOUNDATION

 

The Atlanta Police Foundation (APF), established in 2003, brings together the public and private sectors to make Atlanta a safer city for residents and visitors. Through public safety strategies and partnerships, the Foundation, a 501(c)(3), provides a means for individuals, community members, and businesses to engage and donate funds to prevent and reduce crime. The Foundation’s programs address the city’s public safety needs, including increasing police visibility, leveraging state-of-the-art technology to fight and prevent crime, and developing strong leaders within the Atlanta Police Department through enhanced training.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute a robust event strategy that aligns with the overall organization's objectives and enhances brand visibility.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies for special events, meeting or exceeding event goals.
  • Lead the planning and execution of high-impact corporate and donor events, including a golf tournament, gala, award ceremony, and campaign dinners.
  • Oversee the event budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources while maximizing ROI on all events.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing and communications, programs, and finance, to ensure seamless integration of event initiatives into broader company strategies.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, vendors, and partners to enhance event offerings and drive collaboration.
  • Utilize data analytics to assess event performance and gather insights for continuous improvement.

·        Work closely with the Director of Corporate Development, keeping them informed of all activities related to Signature Events sponsorship and community outreach.

  • Assist the CEO and the VP of Development with various tasks.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in event planning and management, with a proven track record of successful event execution, managing large-scale events.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic event plans that achieve organizational goals.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience working with vendors and contractors.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to convey professionalism and gratitude in written communications with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Flexibility regarding working evening and weekend hours.
  • Attention to detail, organization, and prioritization are crucial. The individual must adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment with shifting project priorities.
  • Proficient in budget management.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a leadership role within a fast-paced organization.
  • Familiarity with digital event platforms and virtual event formats.
  • Proven ability to leverage AI and technology to enhance event experiences and streamline operations.

 

 

Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies:

  • Proficiency with event management tools (e.g., Eventbrite, Cvent) and donor databases (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce).
  • Strong understanding of data analytics tools to measure event success.
  • Computer proficiency, particularly MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, G Suite & Canva.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee is occasionally required to drive a car and lift at least 25 lbs.
